Rhodes is perhaps the best island for fans of high quality food. The Island of Rhodes has been Greek since 1947, but before that it was under Italian rule from 1912. The food reflects the island's heritage. The fantastic food available here is just one reason so many people return. If it's your first time, try a "Mixed Greek Plate" anywhere here at the beginning of your holiday.
Some other Greek dishes we'd recommend include Kleftiko, Stifado, Dolmades, Moussaka, and Gemitsa.
There are some great Italian dishes on the menu in several tavernas (In fact there are some great Italian restaurants too).
A favourite hot and spicy Italian dish is Pasta Al Amatriciana. Good examples can be found at Nicolas Taverna and La Piazza.
Some of local eateries prepare 'specials' on different days, and a great example is Dama Dama, where their 'special' Chicken Lemonati is particularly recommended.
In addition to Greek and Italian Cuisine, you can find Chinese, Indian, Thai and European food. There are several Fish tavernas too, specialising in locally caught sea food including fish, octopus and squid (kalimaris).
Al Fresco dining with a carafe of a local house wine, and delicious freshly prepared ingredients, all at a very relaxed pace and a sensible price.... not forgetting the perfect hosts!
An Italian restaurant located opposive Pefkos by Night near the junction of Main Street and the Lindon to Lardos Road, serving the full variety of Italian restaurant foods including some simply delicious pasta and pizza dishes.
